Japan is very hot right now. On July 11, the temperature reached 39.3 degrees Celsius in Dazaifu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. How do you sleep comfortably on a very hot night? Based on university research, we will introduce eight methods to sleep well in the hot summer.

2. 窓を開ける時間を選ぶ
外が部屋より涼しい時に窓を 開めます。夕方や朝の涼しい時がいいです。
Open the windows when it is cooler outside than inside. Cool times like evening or morning are good.
3. 扇風機を使う
扇風機を使って風を送ります。風が体に当ると、汗が乾いて涼しくなります。
Use a fan to blow air. When the wind hits your body, sweat evaporates and you feel cool.
4. 涼しい布団と服を選ぶ
コットンなどの軽い布団や服を使います。これらは汗をよく吸います。
Use light bedding and clothing made of materials like cotton. These absorb sweat well.
5. 寝る前に体を少し冷やす
寝る前にぬるいシャワーを浴びます。首や足首を冷やすのもいいです。
Take a lukewarm shower before going to bed. It is also good to cool your neck or ankles.
6. 水を少しずつ飲む
昼から少しずつ水を飲みます。寝る直前にたくさん飲むと、夜に起きることになります。
Drink water little by little starting from the daytime. If you drink a lot right before going to bed, you will end up waking up during the night.

7. 夕食を軽くする
夜の食事は軽くします。たくさん食べたり、油の多い物を食べたりすると、体が熱くなります。
Keep your evening meals light. Eating a lot or consuming oily foods will make your body hot.
8. 涼しい時間に動く
運動や仕事は、朝や夕方の涼しい時間に します。夜に激しい運動をすると、眠りにくくなります。
Do exercise and work during the cool hours of morning or evening. Doing strenuous exercise at night makes it harder to fall asleep.
