In Yamagata City, more than 1,100 lanterns with children's wishes written on them are brightly illuminating the summer night.
This project was started to energize the city.
Kagami Yuuka, who won a gold medal in wrestling at the Paris Olympics, came to the lighting ceremony.
Kagami, who is from Yamagata City, said with a smile, "Looking at the children's lanterns made me feel energized."
The lanterns can be seen until August 16th at JR Yamagata Station, Utakake Inari Shrine, and other locations.
The time is from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
