Holiday prices in Europe are rising this summer. Because of this, more people are looking for cheaper travel options.

Because of= 〜が原因で、〜のせいで

Data from TravelSupermarket shows that family holidays to popular European countries are more expensive now. For example, a one-week holiday to Spain is 4% more expensive this August. Prices for Portugal are up by 3%, and Greece has a 5% increase. Families might pay about £160 more for a Spanish holiday compared to last year.

At the same time, package holidays to Dubai and Egypt are getting cheaper. Last year, many travelers were worried about the political situation in the Middle East. Because of this, fewer people booked holidays to these places. To get more customers, travel companies lowered their prices.

worried about= 〜を心配している、〜について不安に思っている

Flora Badger wanted to take three teenagers on their first holiday abroad. She wanted to book early but was worried about the Middle East. Finally, she booked a holiday to Lanzarote, Spain, for September. She said that summer holiday prices are very high and frustrating.

However, some costs are going down. Car rental prices are cheaper in many popular destinations this year.

Travel agent Richard Slater said that bookings are rising again. A ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran last month made people feel safer.

To save money, many families are changing their travel plans. Many choose shorter holidays of 8 to 10 days instead of two weeks. Others are choosing new, cheaper destinations like Montenegro, Malta, and Madeira.
