To help them, scientists want people to join the Big Butterfly Count 2026. The event runs from July 17 to August 9. People can count butterflies and moths in one place for 15 minutes a day. Then, they can report their counts on a website or an app.
Experts say that if butterflies do well, other insects will also do well. People can help by letting parts of their gardens grow wild. This gives butterflies more places to feed and breed. Letting grass grow long and messy creates safe spaces for insects all across the country.
