David Cifaldi was hiking with friends on Montana's Granite Peak when a dangerous accident happened. He slipped and fell, and his own trekking pole impaled him.

Remarkably, the pole missed all of his major organs. Instead of calling for a helicopter rescue, Cifaldi decided to walk down the mountain himself. He hiked 10 miles on foot to reach safety.
