Many pet owners rely on smart devices to feed their pets on time, especially when they are away from home. However, a major system outage at Petlibro recently caused many smart pet feeders, water fountains, and litter boxes to stop working, leaving some pets without their scheduled meals.
The outage started on Tuesday, when users began posting on Reddit about their devices suddenly going offline. Owners reported that popular Petlibro products, including RFID pet feeders and Granary food dispensers, failed to dispense food as scheduled. The issue caused significant worry for pet owners who were away from home and relying on the automated system to feed their cats and dogs. In addition to feeders, some customers experienced problems with Dockstream smart fountains and Luma smart litter boxes, as well as the Petlibro smartphone app.
Petlibro stated on Tuesday that it was dealing with a service issue affecting its app and that its technical team was actively working to restore functionality. The company claimed that schedules saved locally on the devices should continue to work without an internet connection. However, many users reported that their offline feeders still missed scheduled feedings.
By Wednesday afternoon, Petlibro announced that much of its service had been restored and that the app was gradually coming back online. While some users confirmed their devices were working again, others continued to report difficulty reconnecting their devices to the app.
