The Witcher 4 developers target a 2028 release window

Gamers around the world have a target date for the next main chapter in The Witcher fantasy series: game developer CD Projekt Red is aiming to release The Witcher 4 in 2028. Joint CEO Michał Nowakowski shared the target release window in a new video, giving fans a clearer timeline after years of early development.

While The Witcher 4 is still several years away, fans will get new story content before its arrival. At this week's Gamescom event, CD Projekt Red is revealing Songs of the Past, an upcoming expansion for The Witcher 3. The expansion is scheduled to launch in 2027 and is set to feature during Gamescom's Opening Night Live event hosted by Geoff Keighley.

CD Projekt Red is also working on a multiplayer spinoff set in The Witcher universe, currently codenamed Project Siris. However, development has hit a bump, as the company confirmed earlier in August that it laid off staff working on the multiplayer game.
