A cricket match in the north-east of England was stopped on Saturday after a large bull ran onto the field. The match took place at Burnopfield Cricket Club, near Newcastle. The young bull, which weighed 800 kilograms, had escaped from a farm about one mile away.
The bull entered the playing field around 3 p.m. It began charging at players and farmers who were trying to catch it. The animal was scared and dangerous, and it even hit one of the farmers. The owner of the bull brought a cow to the field to calm it down and make it leave, but this did not work.
Eventually, the club called the police. The bull left the field on its own, but the match between Burnopfield and Hetton Lyons could not continue. Club director Martin Oswell said there was no way to safely restart the game. While the situation was unusual and strange, the match had to be called off for safety reasons.
