Millions of people in China have been evacuated from their homes as a weakened but still dangerous Typhoon Bavi brings heavy rain and strong winds to the country's eastern coast.

have been V-ed= (從過去到現在)已被〜

Although the storm has weakened to a severe tropical storm, it still carries a massive amount of moisture. On Sunday morning, the center of the storm reached Hangzhou, a major city in Zhejiang province. Forecasters expect the storm to move through eastern Anhui on Monday before reaching the Yellow Sea on Tuesday.

In Zhejiang province, authorities have evacuated more than 1.7 million people. Local governments have closed schools, suspended outdoor activities, and canceled 400 flights and dozens of trains.

The city of Wenzhou, which has a population of about 10 million, is directly in the storm's path. Hundreds of thousands of residents there had to leave their homes. "We could hear roof tiles and tree branches falling," said Li Liangxing, a Wenzhou resident. "Of course we were scared." Even in the capital, Beijing, officials ordered 100,000 people to evacuate to keep them safe.

had to V= 必須〜、不得不〜

Typhoon Bavi has already traveled across the Pacific Ocean. It started as a super typhoon with winds of 290 km/h (180 mph) near Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. It later hit Japan's Sakishima islands, injuring five people and causing power outages, and triggered evacuations in Taiwan. Fortunately, no deaths have been reported so far.
