Video game fans around the world are eagerly waiting for Grand Theft Auto VI, one of the most anticipated releases in gaming history. As developer Rockstar Games prepares for its launch on November 19, 2026, new details about gameplay, pre-orders, and ongoing developments behind the scenes have emerged.
Rockstar announced an in-depth preview of the open-world game scheduled for August 27. The preview will stream on YouTube and Netflix, giving players a closer look at Vice City and one of its dual protagonists, Jason Duval. Pre-orders for the title have already begun with astonishing success. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of parent company Take-Two Interactive, described the level of interest as unprecedented. The game will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, priced at $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition.
However, the road to release has been marked by security leaks. Following early leaks in 2022, recent clips of gameplay surfaced online under the name "CyberLeek." In response, Take-Two Interactive issued subpoenas to Microsoft and Discord to locate the source of the copyrighted material.
At the same time, workplace conditions are taking center stage inside the studio. Employees at Rockstar Games have formally requested recognition for their union, the IWGB Game Workers Union. Staff members across studio locations have been organizing since 2019, especially after more than 30 workers were fired last year in a move accused of union busting. As the November launch approaches, developers are pushing for fair workplace representation alongside the game's production.
