Nearly 30 years after rapper Tupac Shakur was killed, a jury has found Duane "Keffe D" Davis guilty of arranging his murder.
Shakur was shot during a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on 7 September 1996. He was 25 years old and one of the most important voices in rap music. He later became one of the world's best-selling music artists, with more than 75 million records sold.
Prosecutors said Davis ordered the shooting and gave the gun to his nephew, Orlando Anderson. They did not say Davis fired the gun himself. During the trial, the jury heard a police interview from 2008 in which Davis said he was inside the car where the shots came from.
Anderson denied taking part in Shakur's murder. He died in a different shooting in 1998.
Davis's lawyers argued that his earlier statements were made-up stories. They said he exaggerated his role to sell books and make money. However, the jury reached a guilty verdict only hours after it began discussing the case.
Shakur's relatives held hands as the verdict was announced. Some hugged and cried. The case had remained unsolved for decades and had led to many theories among hip-hop fans.
Davis, 63, said he plans to appeal the verdict. His sentencing is set for 13 October.
